Chip Hauss

Chip has spent more than half a century working for nonviolent social change mostly as a peacebuilder and political scientists. The first half of his career was spent mostly in academia, the second half mostly as an activist. He is now a Senior Fellow at the Alliance for Peacebuilding and a visiting scholar at the Carter School at George Mason University. He has written eighteen books and is writing yet one more, Peace is a Verb (with Patricia Shafer), which explores what mostly young activists are doing to bridge ideological and issue-based divides in the United States. He also serves on a few boards of directors of peacebuilding NGOs and enjoys fundraising. Since 2022, he has also been part of Rotary's peacebuilding efforts.
