Beyond Intractability: A Free Knowledge Base on More Constructive Approaches to Destructive Conflict

Exercises

The following exercises may be helpful to those who engage in bridge-building activities:

  • Perspective Taking - Part of the challenge of being a bridge builder is being able to see a situation from different perspectives. This exercise helps people to see and ultimately understand the power of taking different perspectives.

  • Constructive Conflict - This exercise is designed to let people tell others about their experiences in resolving conflict constructively. By sharing a personal story about how they helped deal with a conflict constructively, they are also explaining how they have acted as third siders without even knowing it.
