Special Projects

The first "Special Project" affiliated with the Commons is the Conflict Information Consortium at the University of Colorado and its Beyond Intractability and CRInfo projects.

The Governance Commons was designed and built by the Consortium under the direction of its Co-directors Guy and Heidi Burgess and our webmaster, Michael Torley. The initial Commons system draws extensively on resources generated by Beyond Intractability and CRInfo under grants from the Hewlett Foundation and other sources. Included are written and recorded materials from the hundreds of people who contributed content and system design ideas to the Consortium.
The Commons' approach to improving governance and promoting more constructive conflict focuses on synthesizing and making more readily accessible the contributions of those actively working to advance governance, conflict, and related fields. The Commons' new Special Projects section highlights the work of those who have become actively involved in helping to advance the Commons initiative.

We are in the process of actively recruiting the first group of "charter contributors." These individuals and organizations will go beyond participation in the Commons' various online discussions, comments, and announcement systems; they will offer either original material written specifically for the Commons or help in integrating their online publications into the Commons framework.

Special Projects developed in conjunction with the Commons thus far include:

International Conference on the Great Lakes Region
Genocide Prevention Knowledge Base
