The Love and Forgiveness in Governance site — a project of the Fetzer Institute, the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University, and Beyond Intractability — is expanding. The Beyond Intractability homepage redesign is intended to emphasize the interplay between the original BI Knowledge Base and the growing Learning Community -- users and contributors who together are building and learning from the site. Upgrades are being made every few days, and will be featured here.

John Paul Lederach's Masters Students at the Kroc Institute have been writing articles for BI for over five years. After a one year sabbatical, Lederach is again teaching, and his students will again be writing new articles for BI — forthcoming this spring! That means two universities — Notre Dame and George Mason are now partnered with BI — and more are invited! Check out the write/edit arrow on the homepage graphic for more info!

Can love or forgiveness be part of governance? What happens when it does? The Fetzer Institute is funding the creation of a web portal highlighting “exemplars” of Love and Forgiveness in Governance found at: http://www.beyondintractability.org/lfg/.

A group of students at George Mason's S-CAR have formed the "SBC Team"-- the S-CAR/BI Contribution Team. Headed by Borislava Manojlovic, who is acting as Associate Editor, this team of students has written book reviews and more extensive "book interpretations," several of which have been posted and others are "in the pipeline." Students in the Burgess's S-CAR class have also contributed BI essays, user guides, and book summaries.

George Mason's S-CAR and BI have formed a multi-faceted partnership for the purpose of strengthening both programs and creating a prototype for the collaborative learning community that we both hope will grow far and wide. Though less than a year old, the relationship has already resulted in several grants and contracts, and new opportunities for both programs. We hope to spread the benefits to other institutions soon!

The Dynamical Systems Application Project (DSAP), headquartered at Columbia University, seeks to apply principles from systems thinking and complexity science to intractable conflict analysis and transformation. A highly multi-disciplinary collaboration of scholars and practitioners, DSAP is partnering with BI to explore and present better ways of approaching intractable conflict.
