DescriptionThis article discusses Community Psychological Empowerment Services (COPES), which is a project of the Trauma Centre for Survivors of Violence and Torture. It is a preschool violence prevention project that targets at-risk preschoolers who have been identified as being aggressive, disruptive and oppositional. It then intervenes through a multi-modal structured group process which involves the identified children, their parents or care-givers and their teachers. The main objective of the intervention is to reduce the level of aggression in the preschoolers and to increase their adaptive social skills and behaviour.
