Intractable Conflicts Defined
Intractable conflicts are those stuck in an increasingly destructive spiral with no end in sight. The essays in this folder cover different definitions of intractability.
Alternative Goals
This section explains how the goals of the parties involved in a conflict determine whether or not that conflict will become intractable.
Justice
It's common sense that justice is central to any well-functioning society. However, the question of what justice is and how to achieve it are more difficult matters. The essays in this folder explore different approaches to justice.
International Law
International law is the attempt to manage conflict between countries. These essays explore both the successes of international law and the challenges it still faces.
